Internationally acclaimed florist and author Saskia Havekes grew up surrounded by market garden and grower farms in Dural, Sydney. After studying horticulture and floristry she cut her teeth working with various florists and installation artists. Grandiflora was established in 1995.
Saskia doesn’t arrange flowers, she curates them. From an artful posy to a full-scale installation always seaching for the chance to sculpt savage beauty out of the bounty of nature and the mutability of the seasons. Drama and scale are her signature.
The chance to create a perfume as a florist is the ultimate luxury because it offers the challenge of paying homage to natural beauty in another medium. Fragrance is a subtle construction, it is not a replication of nature, but rather a play of memory and desire. To re-create and interpret the scent of a flower is rather like telling a story. A story about Saskia’s passion for the mystery that is an elusive flower.
From NYC to Paris, Moscow or Sydney… Juliette intrigues the world.
Armed with her perfume, the Shakespearian heroine goes wild. Life is too short, and pleasures too many, says Juliette.
The Gun, metaphor for the perfume, weapon of seduction, or simple accessory of bluff, essentially symbolizes the liberation of women towards men. And sometimes with a taste for revenge…
But the concept is also influenced by romantism. A modern version, where reinventing couple and femininity is a constant quest
Launched in 2006, our philosophy is to approach perfumery as an art and to be present only through a limited distribution such as concept stores, department stores or specialized perfumeries.
Partners in life, artists and great travellers, Francis Miller and Patrick Bertaux put their suitcases in Paris, in the Marais.
They open a shop to show their creations of clothing and objects they bring back from their travels. Some poetic words written on the white walls, large strokes of paint thrown ‘à la Pollock’. The stage is set.
Miller and Bertaux was born.
Soon, they complete this universe with scents they imagine as artist-craftsmen.
A bouquet of flowers resting on the ground, a besides market, a rose on the ear of an Oriental man, the smoke of a Mexican church …
It is in their lives and journeys that they find the best pictures, the best stories that they transform into perfumes for women and men, regardless of gender.
Paris 2015, thirty years later. Francis Miller and Patrick Bertaux are dedicated to perfume and regularly demonstrate their artistic work during performances / readings / installations.
In the inventory of their collection, they add a line of fragrances and candles for the home.
A house that they conceive opened, besides memory, experience and rare moments.
A refuge house, as their own.
